Friday Fun

Friday Lin had some friends spend the night. They played out on the slip and slide for hours and then had a HUGE balloon fight. Over all they were great…everyone was asleep by 12:30.

Of course there are pictures!

I don't want to do this anymore!!!

I'm tired of being alone and I am sick of being lonely!

Don't you think 17 months is enough...I do!

I miss my husband and that is all there is too it!

*Edited to add*

Done feeling sorry for myself...I just had one of those mornings. Today actually was not a bad day. I got to spend the afternoon with one my former students, and she was thrilled to see me. Nothing makes your day like a big smile and the words "Hug my Gail" clear as day. Trust me when I say that was not easy for her considering she is 10 and just learning how to speak. Kind of makes me feel like an ass for feeling sorry for myself

Once Again Proving The Theory...

NASHVILLE (AP) — A mother faces criminal charges after she hired a stripper to dance at her 16-year-old son's birthday party.
Anette Pharris, 34, has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and involving a minor in obscene acts. The boy's father, the stripper and two others also face charges.

"I tried to do something special for my son," Pharris said. "It didn't harm him."

And her closing line:

"Who are they to tell me what I can and can't show to my own children?" the mother said.

Well Anette you have once again proven the theory not everyone is cut out for parenthood and in fact some people are idiots!

Paint Samples

So here are the few samples I liked. The first set I would only put the color on one wall. I really like the red.

This set could be either a coordinating color for one of the above or safe( my version of safe) on all the walls.

the safe zone!!

A decission was made on the lamps...I am going with the one in the middle.

Places to go...

I have a very small list of places I have always wanted to visit. Since I have been a military dependant since the day I was born I have seen a great deal of the world and the USA. So you can see why my list is small.

These are the place world wide I would love to visit, here they are in the order I would like to see them:

  1. London

  2. Scottland

  3. Ireland

There is really only one place in the U.S. that I really want to visit and that is New Orleans. I plan to go there while the girls are with my parents. I’ll remember to take pictures to share with you all when I go.

Tag I’m It

My friend at Homefront Six tagged me as I slept last night so here goes…

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
The number is well above 15o.

2) The last film I bought:
"National Treasure"…it was my mohters day gift from the girls.

3) The last film I watched:
I am going to answer this in three cagtagories.
1) Alyssa and I went to see “ Kindom of Heaven” in the theather last Friday. It was pretty good. I thought Orland Bloom did an excellent job…but there were some monents in the movie that I felt the story had something missing.
2) I watched “ William Shakespear’s A Merchant In Venice” last night on DVD. The photography was beautiful and the story was a typical Shakespearian( is that actually a word?) story.
3) Splaglish on pay- per- view. It was ok …again I felt the story had moments were something was missing.

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):

  • Lord of the Rings(Fellwoship, Twin Towers , & Return of The King)

  • Master and Commander

  • The Patriot with Mel Gibson

  • Knights Tale

  • Harry Potter ( all three out on DVD)

5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal:

This one is tough. Most of the people I would tag have already been tagged so I won’t tag them again.

I will say this Check out my favorites and meet the wonderful people I check out daily.

I do have a wish list of videos I am wanting. This seems like the perfect place to add it so here goes:

  • Braveheart

  • First Knight

  • Pirates of The Caribbean

I know there are more but the mind has shut down.

Go War Eagles

I finally have pictures of Alyssa's Room. It took quiet a few coats of Primer and paint to cover those blue walls. When I put the tinted orange primer on the wall and it turned green I thought Alyssa was going to have a stroke. LMAO poor kid.

We are still looking for a nice tiger picture to put over her bed. So far all searches have found to expensive or too tacky. So the search continues.

So here it is:

Any one But Me!

When I was growing up I use to daydream about being anyone but me. I was always the fat, clumsy girl. You know the one everyone picked last for any game, the one not invited to the cool parties. It was as if I was invisible to everyone, every one that is but me.

I wanted to be thin, have beautiful straight hair, a perfect smile, to be the girl everyone went to for answers.

I remember watching all the girls hanging out, laughing, in their little groups just dying to be a part of it. Wondering what was missing in me that I was never included. Wondering why they couldn’t see the real me.

My first real girlfriend was Millie. We were in the 6th grade together at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. (It’s true I never had a real friend till I was in sixth grade.) It was like a whole new world opened up for me when Millie and I became friends. I wasn’t an outcast any more I was part of a group, Me and Millie.

I wish I could tell you that Millie never betrayed our friendship but she did. She found a new friend named Hillary and three became a crowd. So I moved on to find other friends. Always cautious of their motives and sincerity, never truly able to be Me…and open.

It was the same way with boys. They never seemed to see the real me.

Some lesson you never forget.

Some lessons are hard to watch your children go through.

To this day there are moments when I wish I was anyone but me. I don’t know who I would want to be…after all I am sure even the pretty, thin girl with the perfect smile, and beautifully straight hair has had moments when she wanted to be anyone but who she really was.

New Book, Very Sad

A new book will be hitting some book store shelves titled Rainbow Party.

Rainbow Party (Simon & Schuster, $8.99) is about a group of teens who plan an oral-sex party at which each of the girls wears a different color of lipstick.

Ruditis says the book was never meant to sensationalize sex parties. "We just wanted to present an issue kids are dealing with," he says.

Bethany Buck, Ruditis' editor at Simon & Schuster, came up with the idea for the book and says she hopes it will "scare" young readers.

Suzanne Kelly, a buyer for the Chester County Book and Music Co. in West Chester, Pa., which will stock a limited number of Rainbow, agrees. She says the book's message that oral sex "really is sex" and that teens can contract STDs through such sexual practices far outweigh the controversial story line.

"I can't imagine anyone reading this book and saying, 'Hey, what a great idea. Let's send out invitations,' " Ruditis says.

Gillian Engburg, an editor at the American Library Association's Booklist magazine, says her publication will not review Rainbow. But the reason, she says, has nothing to do with the subject matter. "We just didn't feel the book had enough literary merit to justify purchase."

This book is not going to be on the girl’s summer reading list. (like there was a doubt)

If the purpose of the book is to show teens that oral sex is sex, I would read it at the bookstore to see if that is the real message it delivers.

What a sad statement for our society when our teens feel oral sex isn’t sex. But then again what type of examples do they have to go by? There are many to blame Magazines, TV, Movies, A former President, but mostly parents for not doing their job and educating their children.

It may be uncomfortable to talk about but just like smoking and drugs we need to let our children know the dangers of sex and exactly what constitutes as a sexual act.

Lamps & Livingroom

Here are the lamps I am thinking of buying for the living room, in the order I like them. Of course the Tiffiany is my first choice and the most expensive. The other two are on sale.

It’s A Dog’s Life

I love Günter but damn that dog can shed. It’s a good thing he loves to be brushed. My poor vacuum is ready to strike!

See that that won't be in my house!!

I was cracking up the entire time I was brushing he was groaning! He won't be groaning when I break out the hose and wash he smelly ass! Now that will be a picture.

Summer Vacation

It’s official no more school for the girls for 21/2 months.

My class starts Tuesday and I am a bit nervous about it. Have I mentioned how much a hate math? I keep telling myself that it will be ok.

Every summer vacation I have this urge to purge my house. So I have a list of things I am going to reorganize. I am also redoing the living room. Not sure yet how much ”Redoing” I am actually going to do but I have high goals.

I would love new lamps and of course painting the walls. Since we moved into the house I have been trying to pick a color for the living room and I still can't decide.

I found a chair at I love. It’s way to pricy for me but I just love the colors and the style of it.Peak at it here. On sales for (are you ready?) $749.00. I can like it but it will never be in my house. But I really, really love those colors. How do you think one of them would look on the walls??

I am buying new endtables and coffe table. The set we have is way to out dated for me and I am sure Rob will be very happy to see them go.

I have a few goals for the girls room but they have to keep them clean before I think of buying anything there.

You can bet I will be taking pictures to share with you all.

Lindsey's Graduation

Today was Lindsey’s graduation from Elementary School. As you can see we survived the hunt for a dress and shoes, unfortunately on the shoes Lin in her excitement to have finally found something we agreed on grabbed a size 11 instead of a 7 so she had to wear one of Alyssa.

Here are Lins list of awards.

  • A –B Honor Roll

  • Governors Award in Physical fitness

  • Student Council

I was so proud. My class came and they keep clapping and yelling “Yeah Lindsey” Of course so did mom when they called her name to go on stage. She said I embarrassed her so I guess I did a good job. Rob called and talked to her this morning and she was really excited about that.

So here are the pictures:

Lindsey walking across the stage. She said I embrassed her by shouting " YEAH LIN" and clapping really loud. Of course I had some help from my friends

The word the best describes how I feel lately is irritated.

I talk and talk and it seems no one really hears me. It just freaking irritates the shit out of me.

Why do I bother? I mean really who is listening?

It just seems to me that I repeat myself so many times and I just refuse to do it anymore.

Some days I wonder if I fell off the face of the earth who would really miss me?

I am so ready to just I don’t know…be truly appreciated. That’s it. I want to be appreciated.

Not humored for a few days till everything seems ok. Not forgotten. I want my words to be heard and remembered. My feelings to be though of.

I am tired of being taken for granted. I really am.

Almost Over

I can’t believe it 3 1/2 more days and school will be out. Lindsey will be graduating from elementary school. It is so hard to believe, seems like yesterday she was just starting Kindergarten.

We are dress shopping this weekend. Wish us luck, she thinks she is grown so we don’t agree on the style of clothing she wants. She thinks I am to out of the fashion loop. I have only one rule, NO HOOCHIE MOMMA clothing.

Yeah this will be an adventure! I'll take a picture of the dress!

Jane Vobe

Each 5th grader at our school is given a trade and a person to study. They do research on them, write reports from that research do a PowerPoint presentation on it and one day at the end of the year they become that person teaching others what they know of their trade.

Lindsey was Jane Vobe a Tavern Owner from the 1700’s.

Everyone called to tell me what a great job she did. I missed it because I was sick but I did get a picture of her in her custom.

Me Under Stress? Get Out of Here!

I’ll start with the good news first. I had a second mammogram last Friday on my left breast were I have a lump they needed to check. Seems the mammogram I took two weeks prior was not clear enough. The results of this test came back negative for cancer. I was so relieved. Breast cancer runs in my family so I was just a little worried.

Tuesday night I started to run a low temp. I felt as if I was getting a spring cold. By Wednesday evening my temp was up to 103 and my throat was on fire. So off to the ER I went. Sure enough I tested positive for strep. Thursday morning I started to have a reaction to the antibiotic called my primary care provider, explained what was going on. Was told a nurse would call me right back…2 m ore calls to them and one to the patient rep office and I got a call back at 4 pm. The nurse tells me to stop the medication (thank god I was smart enough to figure that out on my own) and to go to the ER to be checked again since it was past office hours.( good thing I called in the AM uh!)

Anyway I now have good meds now I am fever free and my throat is under control.

I missed 3 days of work, and most importantly I missed Lindsey Colonial Days at school.

I am tired of being sick.

The doctor asked if I had been under a lot of stress the past few months. Me under stress get out of here! His theory is that being under a great deal of stress can weaken your immune system. Now this guy is a genius! I’ll
be adding more vitamins to my diet and I did join a gym Monday night the plan is to work that stress as much as I can out of my system.
